Gregory Wiles is working at his computer, when a message appears prompting him to click a button. Strange images begin to flash before his eyes, and the teen is drawn in, seemingly mesmerized. Then something begins to protrude from the middle of the screen and impossibly takes the form of a hand. The appendage slowly reaches forward and without warning grasps his head.

On an airplane in flight, scientist Marshall Bowman gets a nosebleed, and he tries to warn the crew to give him sedatives or use force against him. He transforms into a beast in the bathroom, and bursts out, causing the plane to crash.

The team investigates a number of people who died faceless after their orifices are sealed while German agents investigating David Robert Jones' escape question Olivia.

When animal rights activists ransack a laboratory, they accidentally release a man-made chimera with a huge appetite. Walter thinks that it was his research that led to this. The creature leaves trails of grotesquely mutilated bodies in its wake, some of which it injects with larvae.

In Seattle, a man attacks his boss believing he was a demon. Walter finds a computer chip attached to the thalamus in his brain.

The Fringe Division is flummoxed by a case where victims are inexplicably disintegrated into ash.

The Fringe team looks into horrible deaths caused by large parasitic worms erupting from their victims' mouths. The case eventually leads them to a Chinese gang and the a black market of immunodeficiency drugs.

A violent tremor shakes an office building leaving only one survivor. Walter surmises that what shook the building was not geologic. With another catastrophe, the team searches for an answer in Jacksonville in an effort to save hundreds of people from death.

Professor Alistair Peck is experimenting on his own body to convert himself into a time machine to travel back in time to see his fiancee.

Olivia is watching Ella for the day, but has to work. She leaves her niece in the capable hands of Astrid and Walter at the lab. To help entertain Ella, Walter spins a wild story to entertain her.

Olivia, Charlie and Lincoln are called to the scene of an accident where a pedestrian has been run over by a bus, nearly duplicating events of a similar bus accident the day before. Olivia finds a ball-point pen at the scene, a rarity in the parallel universe because of the adoption of digital interfaces. Evidence suggests that the discovery of the pen by a bystander created a sequence of chain reactions that lead to the victim's death.

Olivia has to deal with a serial kidnapper known as the "Candyman", who kidnaps children then releases them a few days later, but released with severe health problems after draining the hormones from their pituitary glands, which the Candyman uses to maintain his youth.

The Fringe team tracks down cases of people having had donated organs removed. They come to learn the organs all belong to the same person, Amanda, a young ballerina that had committed suicide.

The Fringe team investigates and uncovers a fungus is behind the decay. The fungus is tied to a young boy, who Walter bonds with whilst becoming increasingly distracted with his mental state.

Olivia is confronted by a dangerous apparition and a fellow Cortexiphan test subject appears to be the cause. Walter leaves the lab for the first time in years to show he is not insane and to avoid being reinstitutionalized. The powerful apparition is neutralized and surfaces in Reiden Lake

Nina and Olivia face torture at the hands of David Jones. Peter and the science team treat the injured Observer before he is snatched from the current timeline by his colleagues. Peter shares a synaptic interface with the Observer and learns what he is ultimately destined to do.

Following the recent shocking revelations and emotional events, Peter weighs his options as the Fringe team investigates a killer targeting love.

The saga leaps ahead to 2036, where rogue agents from a minimalized Fringe Division recover most of the original Science Team after two decades encased in Amber. The Observers have most of the native population subjugated, oppressed and repressed as an inferior culture... but there is new hope.

In the year 2036, Peter, Astrid, Walter, and Etta set out to find Olivia and free her from amber.

As the rogue Fringe team continues to fight off the oppressive Observers’ invasion, unforeseen events lead them into a forest where they encounter a strange subculture of people devoted to recording human history.

Losing their anonymity in Walter's Lab, the science team is forced to make a bold grab for written technical plans left in a childhood hiding place that Walter remembers. Windmark and Broyles intervene and the team is driven-off with a devastating personal loss.
